Back to basics: Mancare de cartofi cu pui si usturoi (Potatoes stew, with ckicken and garlic)

English version
Everybody knows that I love Indian food. And Italian. And Chinese. That's why my blog is filled with such recipes. Few Romanian dishes I make and the less I eat. That's because most of them are made with pork or fried onions. I'm not a friend with any of them.
From time to time, but especially at the insistence
of my husband I have to return to the basic-Romanian cuisine. To my satisfaction, I learned this recipe from my mother in law. It doesn't contain fried onions. Only garlic.

Ingredients for 5 servings

* 400 g chicken (I had breast) cut in medium pieces

* 2 kg potatoes, peeled and cut into large cubes

* 10 garlic cloves, peeled

* 4 tablespoons corn oil

* 3 tablespoons tomato paste

* Water
How To

* Cut garlic in slices

* Heat the oil well

* Put the garlic and leave it for 1-2 minutes. Take care not to burn

* Add meat (removed water with paper towels) and leave for 2-3 minutes on each side to color

* Put the water, only enough to cover meat. Put a lid and let simmer until meat is almost done

* Add potatoes and salt and let boil.

* When they are almost ready, mix tomato paste with water (you can use the sauce from the skillet, if you think it's too much juice) and add it in the skillet.

* Let boil 5 minutes to form the sauce.

* Eat with salad (green or pickles)
